Inspired by The Negro Motorist Green Book, The Gold Book is a living, community co-created guide to neurodivergent-supportive services.
The dream behind Autastic’s Gold Book is that we–as neurodivergent people living an allistic world–may find, at minimum, the same dignity, comfort, and safety others are afforded as we go about our daily lives.
The Gold Book is a simple listing service. Like a wiki, anyone can add a business, anyone can edit a listing, anyone can rate a service. We–the global neurodivergent community–create the resource we need. That means, like any crowd-built Internet resource, do your own due diligence and YRMV.

WHY WE CREATED THIS
Autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent individuals regularly suffer indignities, microagressions, and trauma when interacting with allistic-centric systems that are not built with us in mind. As with any marginalized community, it’s nearly impossible to create our own infrastructure while also navigating the exclusions and oppressions we face regularly. But what we can do is share the gems we find so we all may benefit.
We may be marginalized but we are not powerless.
Services exist where we are treated equitably, safely, and with respect. Let’s share them with each other 💪🏽
ELIGIBLE BUSINESSES
Neurodivergent adults may add any service, store, or similar that met their needs as a customer. If the world needs to know that they made your life a bit easier by being responsive, attentive, and/or affirming to your needs, please add them. If you are a neurodivergent business owner, feel free to add yourself.
Examples:
- A salon that will keep the music low or off on request.
- A market that offers online ordering and contactless delivery.
- A dentist who offers a treatment area away from the group service chairs.
- A therapist who offers virtual, text, and/or flexible communication-style appointments.
And more! Any business that meets neurodivergent needs–as defined by you, the person adding the listing–can, and should, be a Gold Book listing.

About The Historic Green Book
“Created in 1936 by Harlem postman Victor Green, “The Green Book” was distributed nationwide until 1967 and provided African American travelers of the era with information on restaurants, services stations and other facilities where they would be welcomed. In an era of Jim Crow and “sundown towns”—communities that explicitly forbade African Americans from staying overnight—this information was not just helpful, it could be lifesaving.”
